As a rule of thumb you use a tear-away stabilizer with woven fabric. The two tear-away stabilizers to consider are Sulky Tear Easy and Stiffy. Not knowing more details about your quilt block such as are you embroidering - a light and airy design vs. a dense design or possibly adding some decorative stitching - it's hard to give you the best formula for success. One book I highly recommend is Sew, Craft, Quilt, and Embroider Confidently with Sulky. It has a section that reads like a recipe for embroidering on a wide variety of fabrics. It has details about the how to stabilize the fabric and what size needle to use. Check out Sulky's book selection at: https://www.sulky.com/catalog/items/s...
