Yes, if you want to start with a placement stitch for the fabric portion. You'll need to reselect it because it will automatically go to 2. If you are stitching multiples and get used to the size and center placement of the butterfly, you can place your fabric in the hoop before stitching step 1, then you don't need to repeat it. The design begins with a tacking stitch, rather than a placement stitch, so stitching it twice just gives you a visual clue of where to place your fabric piece.
