Lisa asked a professional multi-needle person to answer this: I use all weight threads on my 6 needle, my table top and on the 15 needle in the office.
Concerning any adjustment, I always recommend to the customer to do a quick one letter test when changing to a 30 weight or metallic.
If it sews fine, no changes. If the heavier thread breaks and I didn�t have issues on that needle bar before, I go up to an 80/12. That little bit bigger hole/groove will reduce any extra friction the thread is receiving.
I do not do any tension adjustments for the 30 or metallic or even the 60 weight. I do of course for the Sulky Filaine & Holoshimmer. Find out more information at https://www.sulky.com/resources/
