Julie mentioned that if you aren't using software, you will need to stop before the last outline stitch, embroider the monogram, and then go back to stitch that final step to secure the back to the front. On slide 11 of the presentation, which is available for download on the Event Page, Julie says:
6. Stitch step 1, which is the placement line.
7. SKIP the next step and stitch the steps for your monogram.
8. Go back to step 2 to complete the key fob once the monogram is stitched.
She goes on to note that machine editing featured may vary and this is an overview or generic account of what needs to happen with your machine and the designs.
