Soft 'n Sheer is recommended as backings to add stability to the embroidery of goods with a stretch and/or a delicate hand where the embroidery can pull down or sag from the surrounding fabric if left to stand alone through washings and wearings; also, for embroidery designs, open weave fabrics, or lightweight fabrics when stitching a complex design. Cut-Away Plus is frequently used for heavier fabrics like sweatshirts and outerwear, but it makes an excellent backing for thread art, and applique art, too. Fuse 'n Stitch is an even heavier cut-away that is (obviously) fusible with an iron. It's perfect for wallhangings, purses, tote bags, and anything that requires a lot of body.
