Can my tension setting cause thread breakage?

You may have a top tension that is tighter than normal. Lower the top tension slightly. Lowering the top tension is essential when using metallic threads - and particularly with Sliver" & Holoshimmer Metallic Threads - you may need to lower your tension a lot on some machines. A vertical spool pin for the flat metallics - the twisting action from a horizontal spool pin can cause breakage. A thread lubricant such as Sewers Aid can work miracles by helping to ease the thread through rough or tight spots in the thread path.
