Can Totally Stable be left in a quilt block or will this cause a problem when washing?
Sulky Totally Stable Stabilizer - White - 12'' x 12 yd. Roll
I like the look of the Totally Stable Iron-on, Tear-away stabilizer behind the embroidery in my muslin block. I'm wondering if it can be left there and washed without a problem, or if I need to remove it.

Any tear-away can become small loose pieces over repeated washings and dryings. Totally Stable is 82% celluse viscose (rayon fibers) and 18% polyester fibers. So nothing in it would be harmful. If it were very tightly quilted I wouldn't be concerned. But if it were done with a more open stippling stitch or other quilting pattern, I think I would not leave it in behind quilting, except in perhaps a wallhanging. Behind an embroidery, though, I would not be concerned. I would tear away the outer areas and any tiny open areas in the embroidery itself will not be an issue. All Sulky Stabilizers are acid-free.
