Can this tape be embroidered threw my needle or can it mess the machine up?

Yes you can stitch through it and it won't gum your needle. However you don't want to trap it under stitches if you can avoid it. But it won't hurt anything longterm, more than likely. The beauty is the way it pulls away even if you do stitch over it.
