I always use warm, sometimes hot - like when I'm using a cloth to remove it along the edges, rather than rinse the whole project. You need to decide if your fabrics will tolerate warm or hot water. It is much faster. If the project has printer ink involved, definitely only rinse with running (warm) water - don't soak. The most efficient is hot, then warm, then lukewarm, then cold.
