Regarding the shelf life of our Rayon Thread, our manufacturing partner, Gunold in Germany told me:
"To the best of our knowledge the thread is still useable after 35 years or more. If it is sitting on the shelf, reasonably protected in a box, nothing will destroy the fibre or influence the runnability. If the thread is exposed to sunlight, drastic temperature changes or humidity changes it will have a negative effect - how much is a question of the exact circumstances. I don't know a single case where a customer had to inform us that he had to throw thread away because of age."
Personally, I have had Sulky rayon threads for over 35 years and have not had any problems with even the oldest spools.
We do use only the finest rayon raw materials made today, and we purchase our raw goods from only one source, which holds itself to the highest industry standards out there. So I think you can be confident that your threads will last a long, long time and definitely longer than any other rayon thread out there.
