Is this product transparent enough that I could trace a pattern on to it ?

It depends. It does come in an 8-1/2" x 11" package (#457-02), which allows you to use a printer or a copy machine to transfer your design to the product. But, you could also hand transfer something using a lightbox or a window. It is also available under the brand name Sulky Stick 'n Stitch (#459-02), in these same size sheets. Same product, different packaging to appeal to hand embroiderers.
