What is the difference between 12 weight sulky thread and 12 wt. perle cotton that comes on a ball?
Is the sulky 12 wt. thread on a spool the same as 12 wt. perle cotton on a ball?

The weight is the same, and they are used in a similar manner. The primary difference is Sulky 12 wt. cotton comes on spools so it can be used BOTH on a sewing machine with a 16/100 or 16/100 topstitch needle AND for handwork. Perle cotton is for hand work only. Perle cotton is typically sold in balls or skeins.
