Any pressure sensitive product can get stickier with heat and less sticky in a cold climate. This being the middle of summer, that could be the issue. Lots of people use a thread lubricant like Thread Heaven™ or a needle lubricant like Sewer's Aid™ to help ease the thread and needle through if this happens. Sewer's Aid is available on our website, and many sewing stores. It does not stain fabric.
You could also try wiping your needle with an alcohol pad now and then. Upsizing the needle might also help.
People say that when it's hot and humid they put the project in the refrigerator for a while before working on it.
P.S. - When using these products with a sewing machine needle, it is important to use it prior to stitching to help keep the scarf of the needle clean as long as possible.
