I feel your pain. It is stressful with a new machine. Since you're new to the machine, I would use an 80/12 needle, just to give the thread a little more room in the needle in case the tension is a little tighter than normal. 1535 comes in both rayon and Poly Deco. Cotton is not recommended for the bobbin because it tends to create more lint than polyester (or rayon). Most people use polyester in the bobbin. We have bobbin thread in spools or in prewounds. Both are poly. Having said that, though, you can use cotton in the bobbin occasionally, but for embroidery you want a lighter weight thread - 60 wt. for most machines. If you're in pinch, you could use the 40 wt. rayon in both top and bobbin. It won't hurt anything, but poly is less expensive than rayon, and it doesn't show anyway. Relax, and enjoy the journey.
