It can indeed. I would test a little of it first. Satins and other "exotic" fabrics can behave differently than our more commonly used fabrics. I would not leave the stabilizer on it for more than an hour or so, if it can be avoided. It can make it harder to remove, and this is true with all fabrics. But any remnants are acid-free and will likely wash away over time. Satin is generally a very stable fabric, but if you see an sign of puckering with the monogram (satin stitching can add more stress), just slide a layer of Sulky Tear-Easy under the hoop if you observe this.
