Here’s what it says under the description for the kit:
If using a sewing machine, don't forget to grab a pack of Jersey Needles. If using a serger, grab a pack of EL 705 SUK Needles - these have a longer shank suitable for sergers. You'll also need Embroidery Needles for the machine embroidery embellishment.
So, the Jersey Needles are not being used for the embroidery portion of the project.
