All pressure sensitive adhesives are climate sensitive. So they get stickier in the heat and humidity and less sticky in the cold. During the summer months, some people will refrigerate their project with the Stick 'n Stitch on it to make the product less sticky. However, at this time of year, for most people, this should not be an issue, unless you're working under a hot lamp or something like that. And some sewing machine lights get hot and/or the bed of the machine.
There are some things that can help a lot. There is a product called Thread Heaven which helps the thread and needle glide more smoothly and resists and build-up. Sometimes there is a lot of sizing in a fabric that bonds with the washable glue, and that can compound the issue (or even cause it). Another product called Sewer's Aid which is used by people on their sewing machine needles helps, too, and is available on our website and in most sewing stores. You can rub it on the needle occasionally. And I'm sure you know that rubbing alcohol cleans the needle, and that's probably what you've been using.
