I would start with 2mm and see how you like the look. If the design is not digitized for Puffy Foam 3mm might be too heavy for the stitch to fully cover the thickness.
Is Puffy Foam suitable for using on coaster, mugrug and such. If so what size 2mm or 3mm 2MM Puffy Foam - Asst. Colors - 12 Pk.
I was not planning to do embroidery over the Puffy Foam (as the fabric alone or already being pre-embroideried. The Puffy Foam would be satin stitched around the edge as you have suggested.
