Yes indeed. You're using the proper size needle, and you can use the same thread in the bobbin or a compatible 40 wt. rayon or 50 wt. cotton, or even 60 wt. bobbin thread, depending on the kind of look you want on the back.
You may need to lower your tension slightly (some machines do this automatically, but even then, it varies from machine to machine. Be sure you're using a spring-loaded-type quilting foot. You might want to upsize to a 90/14 topstitch needle, too, which has a longer eye to allow less stress on the thread. When all else fails, you can use a little Sewer's Aid on the needle and thread spool. (This is especially helpful when you're stitching through certain battings or fusible webs).
