To remove the release sheet from the actual Stick Fabri-Solvy, it helps to score it with a pin, either at the corner (about an inch or so in) or you can make an X from corner to corner. It separates quite easily then. The backing feels more like a slick paper, and the Fabri-Solvy feels like fabric, it's rougher feeling.
